Frequently
Asked Questions about Wedding and Event Videos |
|
1) What cinematography
style do I use?
I try my best to be unobtrusive and "like a fly on the wall"
for most of my camera work, unless the bride has requested a cinematic
style or some staging of activities for the camera are required.
Your wedding or event will be recorded in a documentary style that
reflects the happenings of your day as they occur, but I will also
produce a highlight clip of varying length that can be done in documentary
fashion or in a cinematic style which has more of a 'dream like'
view rather than a true recording of what sights and sounds actually
occurred.
2) What is the difference
between having one or two camera operators, besides the price?
Most of my ceremony work involves myself as the sole camera person
using one manned camera and a second camera set to continuously
record from a different angle. This technique generally works quite
well for me since I attend the rehearsal to know my best camera
placement in advance. When the bride and groom will have their backs
to the guests for much of the ceremony, the bridal party is large
and a side view can easily be blocked by someone moving in front
of the camera, or there will be activities spread out over a large
area or against a scenic background subject to lighting changes,
I recommend a two camera person shoot. If a long cinematic style
recording is more important to you than an actual recording of the
day's events, I also recommend a second camera person to repeatedly
get better multiple views. If you are unsure and running on a tight
budget I will gladly visit the location in advance and let you know
what to expect.
3)Is there an extra
charge for editing or will I only receive raw footage on my DVDs?
Your wedding story DVDs will have fully edited video content to
tell the story of your wedding with the best imagery, color and
sound. Professional editing does not just mean 'chopping' clips
and then binding them together again. Additionally, your wedding
highlights will be edited to suit your preferred style and emphasize
the spirit of your wedding day. The unedited footage is
yours for the asking as well.
4)My planned event isn't
a wedding, but an anniversary. What are the prices?
Pricing depends upon what kind of celebration coverage is involved.
Some celebrations have a church ceremony followed by a reception,
speeches, dinner, dancing, etc.. Or it may be a smaller get together
involving some speeches that you are primarily interested in preserving
or sharing. Please call me to discuss prices which will generally
be less than those for a formal wedding. Regardless of the event
type however, your DVD's will be of the same high quality and attractively
designed.
5)How long does
it take to get my edited video on DVD?
I try to get a "draft" clip of your wedding highlights
done in one or two weeks after the wedding. This highlight clip
will go on your personalized "Page to Share" that you
can link to send e-mail thank you's to your guests, link to your
page on Facebook, or have me provide in a format for you
to upload to YouTube, etc.. I also use the "highlight"
clip in developing your DVD motion menu. Once you approve it or
the requested changes are made to the draft, your draft copy of
the wedding DVD will follow in a few days. Generally when there
are delays, the delay is caused by my waiting for additional materials
to be included in the DVD such as photos, music, etc., requested
by the bride.
6)If my wedding is postponed
or cancelled, is my deposit refundable?
As long as I am able to
re-book, I'll gladly refund your deposit or apply it to your revised
date. Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel
or re-schedule.
7)Since High Definition
cameras are being used to record my wedding anyway, why is there
an extra charge for Blu-ray versus regular DVD?
Transcoding the high definition footage for delivery on Blu-ray
disc requires additional computer time and an additional disc authoring
for Blu-ray. I hold your files on a hard drive for at least one
year to allow for you to choose Blu-ray at a later date. Maybe an
anniversary present idea?
